When this family purchased their forever home, not only did it need a makeover (think: pink walls and hardwoods that looked like a basketball court) but they also needed new furnishings as their condo furniture barely made a dent in their new space. This family room was their first priority - and making sure it could accomodate everyone at once in a way that allowed them all to kick up their heels and relax was ours. With two little ones and a dog, that meant meant the entire room needed to be washable, durable, kid and pet safe, easily maintainable, and (of course) beautiful. This sectional in a performance velvet was the perfect fit both for the room and this family’s needs and we used it as the inspiration piece around which we designed the rest of the room. A soft but cleanable rug, square leather ottoman, cordless bamboo shades, mirror to reflect both the outside light and the freshly painted bannister, and a floor lamp tucked behind a substantial end table (for protection from tiny humans) all came together to provide both the functionality, ease, and beauty this family desired.
